After a long moving and shopping day, my girlfriend and I needed a break for some grub. We were in the Serramonte area and it was getting late, so one of the only things that was still open was Ono Hawaiian, making it an easy choice.

We shared the mixed BBQ plate with BBQ chicken, Korean rib, and steak. There was quite a bit of chicken, but disappointingly, only one piece of the rib. Flavors were relatively sweet, but also oddly bland at the same time. The macaroni salad was so-so as well, and I was generally underwhelmed.

I’m not sure what it is about chain Hawaiian restaurants but they’re never anything special until you find the little hole-in-the-walls. Service was slow, but it was acceptable since it seemed like each piece of meat was being cooked fresh. Prices weren’t too shabby given the portion size. Overall it was just meh.
